Over a six year period the recovery rate has gone from 42% to 70%, an increase of 28 percentage points, which means more than 55% more containers were recycled in 2016 than in 2010. In 2016, the beverage containers recycled in Manitoba would have filled 1,042 rail cars. That equals a decrease of 25,868 metric tonnes of CO2eq emissions which is the equivalent of taking 5,708 cars off the road.
